James "Jim" Donald Parnell

James "Jim" Donald Parnell, 82, of Granbury, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission Granbury or the Hood and Hood and Somerset Counties.

Jim was born on June 23, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas to Hector and Lena Parnell. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Jim met Pat Taylor on a blind date. It was love at first sight. They were married on August 23, 1974 in Fort Worth, Texas. Going to the movies and spending time together was something they enjoyed doing. Jim also enjoyed fishing.

Jim was a construction foreman, and worked at the power plant and Home Depot. His co-workers loved to call him Papa Smurf and Father Time. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Bruce Parnell, himself, one sister, and one brother.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Pat Parnell, son Brian Parnell, grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister and several nieces and nephews.

Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Appreciation to Harbor Lakes. Wiley Funeral Home made arrangements.
